SKESS Corporation is the biggest enterprise in Russia in construction of grain storage silos
History
Sevkavelevatorspetsstroy Corporation has traced its history since 1946 when the Sevkavzagotstroy Trust was established by the decision of the Government for construction of facilities for grain storage and processing in the North Caucasus. During the years of perestroika and reformations, SKESS Corporation has managed not only to keep itself as an efficient enterprise, but also to master new technologies in the grain storage construction industry.
Specialized plants and landfills, built in ten cities of the North Caucasus, were included in the structure of the newly established Trust in 1946, including a repairing and mechanical plant in Bataisk, a plant for production of metal structures in Krasnodar and concrete product plants in Armavir, Nalchik, Salsk, Tikhoretsk, and Millerovo.
And by 1969 the share of the enterprise in the total volume of input of grain storage silos throughout the country was 37%. Normally the entire production base for storage and processing of grain, which is nowadays in the North Caucasus, was built by the forces of this enterprise. Moreover, grain storage silos were built in Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Mongolia and Sudan.
The Corporation was the first in Russia to master the construction of mini-grain-storage-silos, mini-mills and mini-feed-mills that enabled the agricultural enterprises to process their products themselves. SKESS was the first to begin producing steel silos that significantly reduced the cost of grain storage silos and expenses for storage of grain.
Today the Corporation’s staff is almost 500 highly skilled and experienced specialists. Since 2009 the Corporation is headed by General Director Alexander Dormostuk.
Full Cycle Company
One of our main and undeniable advantages is that we are a full-cycle company. The Corporation designs facilities, manufactures equipment, builds and provides warranty service for the facility.
To solve all these tasks, a close-knit, experienced team of professional specialists was gathered:
- designers — technologists, builders, electricians, specialists in automatics, specialists in estimates, in short, a whole design institute. The draftsmen are responsible for the engineering direction, namely for designing of silos and adoption of new types of process equipment;
- the staff in the factory of production of silos and equipment is represented by highly skilled operators of automatic lines, laser and plasma centers for metal cutting, experienced welders, machine operators and many others;
- builders are represented by experienced concrete workers and installers of metal structures and equipment, cranes and machine operators.
Today, many companies declare a comprehensive approach i.e. on «turnkey» basis. But without their own specialists in all the above directions, they have to involve either designers or suppliers of equipment, or builders and installers, or both, and others. This conglomerate of «Varangians» is very difficult to manage, as everyone has a manager, own interests, and at any most unexpected moment any of the links in this complex chain can fail. We have a centralized management and it is in the same hands. The advantage is obvious.
We have an amicable and united team. Some employees came to the company even in times of stagnation. There are labor dynasties in our company: builders of grain storage silos in the second and even in the third generation. In recent years, we hire many young specialists, who take over the experience of their older colleagues and keep the long-standing traditions of the corporation.
Grain storage silos produced by SKESS Corporation are reliable and will work for a long time. Estimated service life is 50 years. We provide free warranty service for the facilities for at least 24 months,.
The geography of our facilities speaks eloquently about the quality and reliability of the equipment made by the Corporation. The equipment manufactured by SKESS is used almost in all corners of Russia: from Pskov to Vladivostok. We built harbor grain storage silos in Novorossiysk, Taganrog and Azov, feed mills in the Stavropol Territory, the Republics of Dagestan and North Ossetia, Rostov, Moscow, Belgorod, Lipetsk and Voronezh Regions, grain storage silos of galvanized steel in the Southern, Central, Volga, Siberian, Far Eastern and Urals Federal Districts.
